Deep beneath the New Mexican desert, there is a lost city in a dark cavern. Many have journeyed to the deep city, some have returned, some have not, completely vanished without a trace. As for what happened to the builders of the city, no one knows for sure. What I do know, is that I…
If you watch every State of the Union Address since it’s been filmed and available on tape, you’ll see that halfway through–exactly halfway through–the President always says the same word. Most say it under their breath during the standing ovations, but some are forced to work it into the speech itself.
Names. Words assigned to other human beings to identify them to their fellow human beings. We walk around every day, calling out to one another, using words of a specific language to address a chosen person. Even without knowing a person’s name, we still use them to direct our thoughts, like “the blonde woman” or…
“Those used to be green!” the man said aloud, staring at the plants on the sill. “I swear! They were green just yesterday!” he shouted to his wife, who was reading a book across the room. He looked around. His eyes were unable to focus clearly for a moment, so he rubbed them. Looking around,…
You know how it goes. When you were a child, your favourite thing was your music box. It would play a soothing yet haunting melody that lulled you to sleep, or provided background noise for playtime. You had it for years. You loved it, cherished it. You brought it everywhere. Kept it safe. It was…
Ok, I’m trying to calm down at the moment, but its locked in the next room bashing against the door. If it makes it through, I’m going to die. I’ll start at the beginning, and I’m hoping someone might be able to help me. About a month ago, I submitted a creepypasta to this site,…
There is an old hotel that has been around for hundreds of years. If you stay in Room 6, you will find yourself in an unknown place, where exactly at 12:16 AM the power will go out and you’ll be thrust into utter darkness. If you choose to stay awake, nothing will happen beyond that….
In Beantown, Nebraska, a town with a population of just over 200, there lives a man named Jack Black. Not THE Jack Black, of course, but just a guy named Jack Black. At 10:06 PM on January 4th of 2014, Mr. Black’s phone will ring. Upon picking up the reciever, Jack will suddenly be able…
A strange ringtone plays on your cell phone, you reach for it but whoever it was must have hung up, a wrong number maybe. You look at the phone anyway. You’ve missed a call. You listen to it. When you put the phone to your ear. Suddenly you hear a scream of pain, you toss…
My story? I will tell you my story. It is a cautionary tale about the wiles of drug abuse. I wish that my story was as simple as most. I wish that I could tell you that I was arrested for possession, or that I was shot in a failed drug deal. While these types…
You are sitting there right now, exactly as I was just two weeks ago. You are reading through these articles, daring yourself to feel fear. You are laughing at posts that seem fake to you, brushing off the slight tingle you feel racing down your spine. You are looking around the room, searching but not…
A couple was sitting in a movie theatre watching a scary movie, and the female of the group wasn’t having a good time. She’d obviously been bored out of her mind. It’d been a late showing, so there was practically no one there and the room was dead silent except for the screening. About an…
Alone at work late one night, you are putting in a CD to install a program on your computer. The CD is unlabeled though you remember it being labeled like any other mass produced CD. You put it into the drive, and find it to have no data on it either. Instead of the normal…
A university in Canada has two unusual things about it. One is a series of tunnels running under all the buildings. These were built for convenience in transporting things from one building to the next, and for students traveling from class to class during the winter. One building, the experimental psychology building was never attached…
Although the Jewish omnipotent entity we refer to by tradition as God was first called Yahweh (I am) by the Israelites, legend has it that the high priest of Israel passed from one to another his true name, made up of 72 Hebrew letters that, when spoken, would summon his presence before the speaker. This…
“You should go close your windows. It’s going to rain tomorrow.” said your Dad. You sighed and looked at the clock: 11:20. “Okay” you said, as you felt a tiny twinge of fear spark in your brain. It was an old fear, your fear of the dark. You’ve had it since you were a child….
Sean’s house was covered from head to toe in family photographs. Some from family retreats to Ireland, others showing lost family relatives. Most of these photographs would include Sean in them, so it was only natural that he would look at them from time to time. However, one day he noticed something rather strange about…
Summer. For someone living in a tropical country, it means unbearable heat and humidity, even at night. I was on vacation and staying at my uncle’s house. His house is situated in a low hill along the border of the town. They are not really isolated as they got neighbors along the way going to…
It was night and two guys in classic car traveled down a lonely stretch of I-95 in Pennsylvania. The one in the passenger seat had a pensive look about him. The driver reached down to fiddle with the radio. They slowly pulled ahead of me. Squinting through the darkness and the bug-dotted windshield of my…
I have dreamed more than once that a man may attain immortality by assiduously avoiding daylight, for it is only by the light of the sun that he ages; knowing this secret, one might go on living indefinitely. Only a few hundred people in the entire world take advantage of this arcane knowledge, moving anonymously…
I am the fish king stalking the waters to fill you with fright I am the fish king you’ll never leave my sight I am the fish I am the night I am the fish king you see there is no other fish king only me I am the fish king blood will soak the…
It was 11:00 at night, so I turned off the television, brushed my teeth and climbed into bed, securing the soft black covers over myself. For a few minutes, all I saw was darkness, and all I heard was silence, but then suddenly, I heard a sound. It sounded like a liquid gurgling sound, and…
I awoke from a deep slumber due to the loud rain ouside. I was used to it though, hell it’s Seattle after all, rain central. I rubbed my eyes and happened to gaze out my curtain-less window just at the moment when a cloaked figure appeared in the middle of the street. I rubbed my…
It’s your first night in your new apartment. Your stuff is still in boxes. Your furniture (with the exception of the mattress on the floor) hasn’t arrived yet. The utilities won’t be turned on until the next day, so you’re making due without. A flashlight and some candles will do for light until you go…
