In any city, in any country, go to any mental institution you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask to visit someone who calls himself “The Holder of the End”. Should a look of child-like fear come over the workers face, you will then be taken to a cell in the…
You open your eyes. An endless ocean of black fills your vision. You blink, trying to cast the darkness away. But the veils of blackness still loom over your body. You try to move, but a cold wall -inches away from your face- pins you to the ground. Distressed, you stare into the empty void…
May 27th, 2030. 10:30 Am-10:35 Am.The hum of the fluorescent lights, the smell of antiseptic, and the squeaking of chairs as men in white lab coats roll around the porcelain floors created an image in Abigail’s mind of sickness. This was not what she expected when she and her husband, Tom, came in for her…
You know the old saying; the one that starts with: ‘A good day at the cabin begins with a sunrise…’? Well that is very much true, but what is a bad day some ask? That’s being woken up in the dead of night by banging shutters and vibrating windows! I groaned in retaliation after being…
I chose to sleep the days away chose comfort in dreams, safe from a world so grey My mind gave me comfort my life could not so as I dreamed, I could not stop I was happy at first, with my daily sights European castles with thousands of lights the king of everything, from ground…
I want to set down recent events in my life, because I’m afraid that this may be my last chance. To begin with, my name is Leon Cowles. I was born in Provo, Utah, although I have lived most of my life here, in Portland, Oregon. I’ve always been a rather intellectual person, preferring books…
“Well, this is embarrassing. Usually, I check on the new arrivals, and they’re already begging to make it all stop. I mean, even if they had no regrets before, they sure do now, right? But this… this is new. Just a room with blank walls. I haven’t seen an occupied room that didn’t at least…
I’ve been thinking of him-er-her (it?) for the past week. I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve barely eaten anything. I quit my job. Or stopped going to work is more like it. I assume I’m no longer employed there. My eyes are sunken in. I sit at my computer day and night mindlessly trying…
Ellie’s eyes fluttered open, only to be blasted by strong, white light. Her arm shot up and hid her face from the glare, as she slowly became able to see her surroundings. She was stuck in a Plexiglas cube, big enough for her 13-year-old self to stretch out her arms and barely be able to…
Halfway through her night shift at George Tafel’s funeral home, Anne Loudreinne almost fainted when the dead man let out a sigh which was barely audible yet still distinguishable from anything else. She had just finished washing the body of old Mr. James Tripplehorn and was staring at his wrinkled face. It was so white…
In any city, in any country, go to any mental institution you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask to visit “The Holder of Song”. You will be guided to a single door leading to a long winding staircase. It will seem to take you up higher than the building should…
Scientists theorize that if the brain experiences something extremely traumatizing, it is biologically hardwired to forget it. I can prove, through my own experiences, the invalidity of this claim. On September 22, 1998, my parents threw me my eighth birthday party. That was 16 years ago, but I can still remember everything that happened like…
It was his first time in Karachi. The coastal city seemed to sprawl on forever, and for a little while he was concerned about getting lost there. But, fortunately he had a lot of friends accompanying him. One look at his them as they stood gathered there outside the bus station and he felt neither…
The town I grew up in, Lay Marsh, was a pretty average place. Parents moved there because they wanted a quiet, safe environment for their kids to grow up. They were upper-lower class, hoping one day to be lower middle class, maybe middle-middle class but few imagined a life as upper-middle. But they happily accepted…
I love myths, urban legends, paranormal stories and chronicles of unexplainable mysteries and phenomena. As a kid, I actively sought books and articles on the topic, no matter how vaguely related. 20 years on, I still enjoy delving into the stories of the unknown. The difference being, 20 years ago I didn’t have access to…
The tropical waters were warm, even on a night dive, but Aaron still wore a wetsuit. He switched on the video camera attached to his mask, then pressed the start button on his waterproof wristwatch. 70:00 popped up in black against a staunch grey background, and quickly turned to 69:59, then 69:58, 69:57. The countdown…
Read Part one here Read Part two here It took a while for the circumstances of my death to come back to me. The memory was thrust back into my conscious mind during our descent into a swirling vortex at the base of the iron tower, as my companions and I escaped from one hellscape…
Copy and pasted from reddits paranormal board is the following post, posted by user itdwellsstill. The text is rendered from a 2013 copypasta that has been traced back to the somethingawful forumn. It was posted on the subreddit with the suggestion that it would make a decent ghost story for that year’s Halloween story contest….
Come to me, children, and follow my way, Into the world of Darkness and Magic. With all my power, I’ll show you the way, To all your dreams, hopes, and illusions. – DHT, “Magic Melody” [This is a loose follow-up to “The Devil Game”] With quiet reverence, you ease open the delicate wrought-iron gate and…
I can see in four dimensions. If that concept is a little hard to understand, I get it. It’s hard to deal with, too. While everybody in the world gauges their surroundings by way of height, width, and depth, I can see all that, and then some. It’s kind of hard to explain, really. I…
That woman over there, in the corner of the room, is really a terrific tease. I don’t even think she means to be, but I’ve simply never encountered anyone like her. She’s got this breezy, powder-blue sundress on, and stylish ankle-strap sandals on her pedicured feet. A girl as pretty as she is would never…
There’s a trail that leads out of Leadville, Colorado, raised like a railroad on high banks. It leads to what remains of Oro City, a true 1860s-era ghost town from the gold rush days. The elevated nature of the trail allows visitors to look down on dilapidated cabins, storage buildings, stores and saloons, although, without…
Since many of you seem to be confused: in my time zone, it is April 1st. This is known as April Fool’s Day in many countries around the world. As a number of you seem to find this a strange and new concept, here you go: April Fools’ Day is celebrated in many countries on…
God, I need to get this down. I need this knowledge out of my head. I’m being, what’s the word to use? Haunted? By a being. A horrid aberration. I can only call it pale face. I remember the first time I saw it. I was twelve, taking a leak at the urinal of the…
