The Trailer The trailer always gets me. This one showed a child with brown skin and blond hair dressed in blue, sleeping under a tree. You won’t wake up, the caption reads. The child is walking, growing and shrinking. Several flowers approach it, mainly lilies. The only aggressive one is a tiger lily, with orange…
I met Elaine at the rim of a fountain. The water bellowed from the spicket in its ornate pattern. The fact it was running at all was a miracle for our underfunded University. It was just after my 8:45 class on early horror films. No better way to start your morning than with a dissection…
Read Part One here It would be fair to say that I had a problem with authority during my mortal existence. I guess that’s why I got assigned the punishment I did once I arrived in Hell. As you can imagine, rebellious behaviour isn’t exactly encouraged here in the underworld. The Devil and his cohorts…
I know what you’re thinking. Don’t worry, I plan on covering everything here in this story. Although, I’m still not exactly sure if what I believe happened actually happened. This was few years ago, and recent events caused what transpired to replay in my head like a Hollywood Blockbuster. I’m no stranger to the noise….

Liam looked down, shaking as he glared at the blood encrusted on his hands. It was not his own. The infernos of the destruction before him were nailed into his brain. He felt lost and confused. He did not mean to do it; he was just tired of the pain and misery that his parents…
There’s never one point where something ‘clicks’. Some like to believe there is, that hobbies or skills reach a well-defined turning point, an ON-OFF switch. It’s never that simple. Even the most abrupt of changes occur over time, not in discrete, quantum moments. That’s why the worst changes are still able to creep up on…
A smile covers my face as I look up to see Emily looking down at me as I awake from my nap. I never really took work seriously, something she always got after me for, but waking up to see her beautiful golden silky hair, her bright blue eyes resembling the waters of the Maldives,…
Read Part one here Read Part two here I know someone will receive this broadcast. Sooner or later our signal will reach one of the parties involved in this conflict. My only hope is that whoever is listening is able and willing to send help and they can reach us before our enemies do. My…
This is an entry in the ongoing Mark of Canus pasta series. Two concepts exist in our world, the natural, and the supernatural. Humanity actively sees and understands the natural, as we progress in science and mathematics, but most of us refuse to observe the existence of the supernatural, as we usually cannot perceive it….
May 27th, 2030. 10:30 Am-10:35 Am.The hum of the fluorescent lights, the smell of antiseptic, and the squeaking of chairs as men in white lab coats roll around the porcelain floors created an image in Abigail’s mind of sickness. This was not what she expected when she and her husband, Tom, came in for her…
“Did you get it?” Tommy asked, his eyes bulging with excitement. Michael lookedbetween his two friends, a smug smile spread across his face. “You didn’t get it,” Andy said, ever doubtful. “No way you got it.” “Shut up. Mikey wouldn’t lie,” Tommy barked, his tongue lisping on the word “shut.” Andy pushed Tommy’s shoulder, “You…
Read Part one here Read Part two here It took a while for the circumstances of my death to come back to me. The memory was thrust back into my conscious mind during our descent into a swirling vortex at the base of the iron tower, as my companions and I escaped from one hellscape…
My name is Hunter Bell and – at the time of writing – I have a week left to live. Five years ago, I was convicted of thirteen counts of first degree murder and sentenced to death. The DA’s office, police and media have portrayed me as one of the most evil killers in recent…
For the first time in a week I am able to send out a message to the world, telling all who will listen about the plight of my people. Seven days for an entire town to be laid to waste and for most of its population to be slaughtered by enemies we never knew existed,…
The nonstop pitter-patter of the cold rain against my bedroom window, set the mood. I found myself rubbing my eyes unable to follow the now swaying lines. My book was a jumbled mess of dyslexic text. I spent another minute trying to decipher the words, but my suddenly exhausted state of mind could not put…
The old radio crackled to life, the static a constant hiss against the silence of Alex’s room. He’d been tinkering with the dials for hours, searching for the usual crackle of distant stations or the hum of late-night broadcasts. Tonight, though, the airwaves seemed empty. Then, a faint chirp broke through. It repeated, a rhythmic pattern…
Sulfuric clouds rained ash upon the barren landscape, coating it like freshly-fallen snow. There were no stars—merely glimpses of an orange sky, like open wounds against the canopy of volcanic smog spanning overhead. “Habitable my ass…” Charlotte remarked, her microphone struggling to capture the full range of her discontented mumblings. “Were you expecting palm trees…
“Okay, Jonnathan, you ready?” He closed his eyes as he nodded and the gas started flowing. Slowly, he lost feeling in his mouth, becoming dazed in the process. Soon he was out, and then conscious again, barely realizing that his wisdom teeth had been pulled. “That wasn’t so bad…” he blubbered. ‘Nope. You’ll be sore…
The human brain is an odd thing. Your memories, mostly from your childhood, are vague and ambiguous. Is what you remember even real? Could it be that you’ve manufactured your childhood memories from the stories your parents tell you about yourself? Think about it for a second, do you actually remember? For me, I don’t…
Sanity is the ancient lie, it’s a lie old as consciousness. Sanity is our imagined common denominator, that nonexistent place we are said to converge. Insanity is as real as anything else. Consider what goes on in the privacy of your mind. How often does reality cease to measure up? How often does the mystic…
“Here we go,” Robert says, staring at the national broadcast system warning as it flashes across the TV screen. He sits in his dad’s old blue recliner wondering if he should be more worried. The world as he knows it is coming to an end and he rests in the Lysol scented chair where his…
Read part one here I don’t know how long I was held in my watery prison. A month, a year…a decade? There was no way for me to measure time. Two years before my death I committed a terrible crime, and now I was suffering an ironic punishment courtesy of the demonic being who controlled…
