The Prophecy of Zarah
The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the early part of the 20th century is one of the most important episodes in the field of Bible scholarship. They have been studied and transcribed for decades, so it was quite a shock when an unnoticed Hebrew text was found in the collection. The theology of this text, apart from references to Sheol (the abode of the dead) and the primordial chaos monster Leviathan, is quite unlike anything found in the Qu’mran community, the Bible or the Ancient Near East as a whole. Here is the entirety of the text, as translated so far:
This is the vision of prophetess Zarah
revealed to her in the dark of a dead land
and written in the dust of a blind moon.
There are Things that were tamed in the beginning of the cosmos
and chained by the stars
which were placed in a sigil of five dimensions
in the tongue of a formless race which was ancient
before the elements.
Their servants were condemned to the mirrors,
to serve as reflections until the sigil of stars
comes undone.
At that time their Masters will return
and the one called Leviathan will drown the stars
in his ichorous waters.
The Gods of man will be as mortals
and those who knew life after death will suffer
as the living.
Blessed are the godless.
Blessed are those for whom death is extinction.
All the host of Heaven and Hell will alike
be tormented by the returned Ones,
whose hatred has festered for millions of years
as the burning stars chained them
beyond the attainable World.
The Reflections will creep from the mirrors and waters
to cackle and sizzle in a tongue without reason:
and they will catch mortals and drive them to madness
and those will be lucky:
for their Masters will come and they will not allow
the salvation of Madness.
Time will die before them and their reign will be timeless.
Reason will be slaughtered and space will be senseless.
Black stars will hang in the sky choked in ichorous waters.
The Gods of the mortals will be feeble before them
and no law will be left but the whim of the hateful,
the Things that were chained when the cosmos were formed.
Blessed are the dead who know nothing.
Blessed are those who did not trust Salvation
but had faith in extinction at the dust of the body.
These are the only ones who are spared.
All of this I, Zarah, have seen in the dead land,
and inscribed in the dust of a blind moon.
It has been revealed to me in Sheol,
and been made known to me in the Pit.
And it has been shown to me that writings from Sheol
will be seen in the land of the living
as the chain of the stars become weaker.
As the sigil comes closer to breaking, the
It should be noted that the translators make the ridiculous assertion that more writing appeared from the start to the completion of their reconstruction of this text, and indeed that vague impressions of letters have already formed below the last sentence, which now ends at “the”. This should be taken as a highly unprofessional attempt at explaining away the slow process of translation. The grisly suicides of, as of this writing, two of the original translation team, should likewise be ignored.

Isaac: thank you, captain obvious
I happen to quite knowledgable about biblical things and can speak and write Hebrew fluently (modern stuff anyway, classical still needs work), and in my many years of work I have never come across this excerpt or mention of it… ever. A quick look on the internet only brings up stuff related to this page.
With that I mind, I have a feeling that this is all made up.
As the sigil comes closer to breaking, the beasts come into view.
As I lay here dying, I see the gods come down to greet me.
As I see them coming near me, I see that they took the form
of you pitiful humans.
As I start to close my eye, and stare into the night, I see
the beasts starting to break free.
As I greet the Masters with open arms, they suddenly dissapear.
As I lay there dying, with a knife through my chest, I feel
relived to have met the Master in which I hope to meet again soon.
For I am the great Zarah.
But who was Alhazred?!
But who was Alhazred?
I really enjoyed this one due to it\’s lovecraftian feel. I like that it\’s saying the gods exist but are feeble in comparison to these old ones. I\’ve always liked the idea of a being so maddening that it would push God over the edge. And it\’s a nice touch that the best possible fate is annihilation. The mirrors thing and the way the final paragraph goes I didn\’t like but it\’s still made me think. Puts a whole new spin on Pascals wager no?
I’m pretty sure “Blessed are the godless” is just another way of saying the popular Internet phrase “WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?”. Obviously, we are going to be killed by the Burger King.
So to all you Anti-Atheists, Atheists, I’m not sure who is complaining at this point: Get that stick out of your ass and stop assuming it’s some thinly veiled attack on religion.
Though, overall the story is okay for the semi-Lovecraftian style. Just not creepy enough.
@ The brown stain, obviously a Christian, accuse all other religions, or the people who choose to follow their own thing, on your own time.
The ichorous waters of his ichorous waters were ichorous waters…bad grammar, little bit of spelling. First half is decent, but then gets repetitive and bland. Would not go back for seconds.
tl;dr
Too wordy and long, the spacing was annoying, what I saw of the storyline seemed silly and conjured up on the spot
….Eh?
The people who complain about this one because they are so obviously offended are seriously just pathetic.
Christian here. Wasn’t really in the least offended. Mostly a lot of lolwut moments in this one. But still, I’ll give this one a B for effort.
Obviously written by an athiest, please keep your religion (Or lack thereof) to yourself.

I liked the middle poem, it was creepy enough, but the before and after paragraphs ruined it.
LOVECRAFT+ATHEIST RIP OFF
Religion, in my opinion, is utterly pointless. That said, If religion makes you happy, then by all means, continue believing. Everyone has the right to believe what they want. Nobody should try and force their beliefs upon other people. It was said earlier that “Not everyone can be right.” But, personally, I don’t think we have a clue about anything. I would change it to “No-one is right.”

Aw c’mon, forget creepy, you’re telling me this came out of the Dead Sea Scrolls and you didn’t even try to make the language more Biblical?? Read the Apocalypsis. The language used there is obscure and difficult, and you can’t understand half of what it says there. That’s what makes it awesome.
Here, you got half-assed Lovecraftian “Ones” who will come to kill God. AND Satan.
…seriously. Even if this wasn’t trying to be creepy, it sucks as prose.
Loved it. Heaven or Hell it doesn’t matter, you’re a target for the hatred of the old ones!111111
Very awesome concept. The prophetic language seemed kind of forced and it would have been nice to have more description of the malevolent beings, but the idea as a whole makes up for it.

THEN WHO IS THE TRANSLATOR????
“Blessed are the godless.”
Phew. Dodged a bullet there. Close one.
Sounds like lovecraft if loveecraft wasn’t trying to be lovecraft but was still being lovecraft.
I stopped lurking just to express the extreme amounts of fail I saw here.
i have a feeling that mngamojemo is a fat, pale atheist named sarah who pretends her name is zarah and sits in her room all day, typing out pathetic poetry.
This.
QFT.
Then who was mngamojemo?
To be honest, I enjoyed this pasta, to hell with the religious/atheist polemics…
what a very good pasta i like it very much. and no i dont believe myself to any religions, gods and whatnot but i like this pasta very much
also thought out that the reason why the translation ends up like that may be because maybe they translated some word to “candlejack” or something. ya know maybe he kidnapp
ok…look. shut up about all the religion vs. atheist shit already its gettin really old. also i have studied mythology, legends, and religions all my life. leviathan in anything is always god of ocean no -uber almighty ,eat the almighty christian god, pmsing god of space-
also sylar12 revelation is almost crystal clear. it basically says ‘fuck you all you you should have listened, here comes jesus on a white horse with an army of angelz, heaven is now a kingdom on earth.
and i find any religion to be poinless cause they copy off each other at least one time in their 300 billion years they’ve been around
the only religions i actually hate are sciencetology (its seriously a joke) and the big bang theory.
also i kno about ichorous waters ;-) i sail em everyday
i always hate it when people say “Revelations.” its Revelation. there is no S at the end.
also, from Mike:”I’ll never get over the huge gap between people when it comes to creepypasta. No matter what the pasta, someone will absolutely love it, and someone will sit there and nitpick and bitch about how awful it is.”
… people are like that with everything. not just this site.
Gotta say it kinda lost me as it went on, but I do kinda like the idea of everyone who believes is punished, kinda of like a reverse psychology of Christianity. Believe in me and you die, in all reality, your belief has just caused you to be cursed to madness when they come for those who fail to live their lives on their own terms. ;)
