Kurt Atkinson was an average college student with a knack for anything science-related, and had wild dreams of one day being celebrated as a hero in the science field, even though he knew that was too much to hope for at this point in his life. Aside from an interest in science, he recently became…
“Donate Blood. Save Lives. We Pay High.” On any other day, I wouldn’t give much concern about this sign, but today was especially bad. All I sold today were a handful of packs of cigars. I haven’t had anything to eat all day. It was getting late, and helping save a life should make me…
My name is Lifeguard. There is a lot of thinking that takes place atop the seat overlooking the pool. I spend most of my days there; watching others play. Watching them have fun. I see grandparents bringing their toddler grandsons and granddaughters to the pool to splash around. Young parents bring their infants to adapt…
The hallway was dark, just like all the other hallways she had staggered down. Unreasoning fear filled her mind as she ran. Gasping and crying she leaned against the wall trying to remember which way she had come from. But, the truth was, her flight had been so frantic that she had lost sense of…
“58, 59, 60” I counted. Josh took note. We moved on to the next box, this one full of electrical wires. I began counting. It was nearing twelve o’clock at night. Inventory was tedious, the warehouse was hot and had no A.C., but we were getting paid overtime, which made it worth it. We were…
Thunder crashed and I sat up in my bed, startled out of a fitful sleep. I rubbed my eyes groggily and looked around the room, then got up and stumbled to the bathroom. As I relieved myself, I thought I heard something in hallway outside my bedroom. My ears perked up and I listened intently…
You’re walking down a road near to a park. It’s dark, cold and wispy. The moon is slowly emerging through the smoke like clouds, giving a appealing glow. The wind is harshly blowing towards you, the bottom of your trench-coat flapping. The worst of it all, you can’t remember why you’re walking out this time…
{BEGIN TRANSCRIPTION. DATE: NOVEMBER 21. 11:11:11s} [ SPEAKER COUGHS. AVERTS EYES; NERVOUS.] Um, okay so—damn it! How do I start this—well, okay. Let me say this first, I’m not crazy. I am not paranoid. I do not have a hyperactive imagination. No, I did not watch several hours of horror movies and no, I was…
“It’s not too bad, is it, sweetie?” Humbly dressed and brown haired, Wilbert Snow smiled at his daughter, and Mary gently smiled back from the living room. Mary’s father, Wilbert, was searching for a home set on a few acres of land that he could potentially build a vegetable garden on, and after a tedious…
I finally understand! See, silence is key. It’s tranquil. Noiseless. Golden. That’s the true beauty of it; at its very essence, its very core. It can mean nothing at all, or absolutely everything. Why didn’t I see it before? WHY?! …Or should I say who? I remember tossing and turning deep in sleep when I…
Freddy Krueger only stalks the victims that fear him, right? He plays with their dreams and gets into the deepest and darkest parts of their subconscious minds, right? That kind of stuff only happens in movies, right? Wrong. Even talking about what happened last month makes me feel nauseous and uneasy. It was no movie….
I try to not think of it. But it haunts me. We’ve all heard stories about this place, about all those who go are never the same. There a few words in school about it, mainly of how much of a terrible place it is. I’ve heard of one story where a girl went in…
The Ringmaster enjoys the cries and pleas of his acts. He enjoys the thrill of seeing pure, innocent fear in the eyes of whom he chases. He has no face, just a complete black mask with a single horizontal red line, marking his lips. His penguin vest and red, decaying carnation neatly in place. Pressed…
This thing on? I guess it is. I can see the little light on the recorder and it isn’t flashing just yet. This is a…well, OK. It isn’t a last will of any sort. It’s a recording of the freaky stuff I just saw. Saw and ate. Oh god, that was bad. Not the previous…
My Grandfather’s brother lived most of his life in Paris, France. On the few occasions I’ve met him, it was very clear that he was a disturbed individual with some sort of something bothering him all day and night. I figured he’d had a stroke or perhaps he was just plain senile. After a few…
I slept fine last night. Didn’t sleep so well Sunday though. It was my own fault, really. I did tell him he was welcome in if he pleased. My dream began like one of those horror games you might see, like Silent Hill or Alone in the Dark. It was night out, and almost pitch…
Kelly woke abruptly, sweating and scarcely holding back her screams. She sat up and threw off the blankets, remaining on the edge of the bed until her ragged breaths had calmed down and her heart no longer sounded like irregular drumbeats in her ears. She’d been having nightmares for months now, and each night they…
Hollis Gommer sat on a bench, one shoelace irreverently untied, the laces brushing against the dusty concrete, the other tied in a pristine double knot, hardly untied for several days now. The evening sun beat upon the back of his head, even filtered through several layers of pink and orange clouds. He wondered somewhere in…
We’ve all experienced it, right? That sudden feeling like someone is looking you. A chill runs up your spine, and you are convinced that you have to find the source of the sensation. You look around and see someone just randomly staring at you. At gives you even more of a spook, but, after a…
Chief Scientist’s Log 12/7/2007 12:31 AM A new find was brought into the lab today. Men working the demolition of a condemned warehouse at this facility discovered a rusty oil barrel that seemed to exude cold. Preliminary electromagnetic field readings yielded chaotic data before the equipment died. Barrel appears to be constructed of stainless steel…
Imagine this. A city, built into a monolithic cavern, in an almost endless desert. A bright, beautiful city, alive with markets, streets, lights, and people. Imagine, a modern day Rome, a Rome built in the Earth. This city, the inhabitants called “Cairn,” referring to the stone that the city was made of. Now, imagine this…
Amelia had just turned out her bedroom light and laid her head on her soft goose feather pillow. It was three in the morning and she had gotten lost in her writing. Amelia was a 24 year old real estate agent who lived by herself in a small one bedroom house in southern New Jersey….
Thursday night. Everyone was blissfully asleep. Reports had spread of a serial killer in the area, but he would only strike on Fridays, so there was no need to worry. The serial killer had been labeled “The Monster” and his M.O. consisted of first sneaking into a house, drugging the victims, and then slowly killing…
The following stories come from the diary of the late Michael Tre Dirstrong. The police found this on his person at the scene of his suicide, and dismissed the stories as a result of his “insanity”. You be the judge. February 17th, 2011 I had to move to this house. It was scaring me too…
