Altera militiae in anti christe

Estimated reading time โ€” 3 minutes

Ever since I was young, I’ve been having this recurring nightmare. In it, I’m standing in a dark room, in the middle of a large circle with the symbol of an upside down star in it. A pentagram. The symbol of the devil. I look around confused, as I have no idea how I got there and realize all I wear is my boxers.

I see candles, skulls, but most of all, I see several people standing around me. All of them wear a hooded robe that covers their face.

As the dream continues they all lift their arms, and mutter various incantations which I don’t understand.

At the end of the dream, the tallest hooded figure, who I guess is their leader, walks toward me. Immobolized by fear, I watch as he comes closer. Closer. Closer. Until he is but a few inches from my body.

I hesitate as he pulls out a rather large ceremonial knife. Just when I think he’s about to stab me, he merely pricks his index finger with the tip of the knife, and proceeds to draw another pentagram on my chest with his blood.

And just as I am about to wake up, he whispers in a cold, raspy voice “Altera militiae in anti christe.” To this day, I have never found out the meaning of the dream.

Because of this nightmare, I’ve been sent to a counselor numerous times, and have even been sent to my local priest, but nothing has been concluded as to what is causing it. All I can do is try to ignore it.

A couple of weeks have passed since I had the dream last. I start to think, “Maybe it’s finally stopped.” Until today.

I was browsing Youtube for scary videos. I searched for just about anything. Ghosts, aliens, cryptids. Anything that could give me a good scare.

I had gotten to a point when I was just clicking on videos in the sidebar. When I saw one that nearly stopped my heart. It was titled, “Altera militiae in anti christe.”

I recognized the title instantly. How could I not? I began to contemplate if I should watch it or not. I pondered this for a good ten minutes before I had finally come to the conclusion to watch it. And as I waited for the video to load, a thought popped into my head. I quickly denied the thought and proceeded to watch the video.

Within the first second, I recognized it. The thought that I just denied could ever happen or would ever happen, happened. The video was an exact recreation of my dream.

I watched in horror as saw my dream unfold once again. Everything was there. The candles, the skulls, the hooded figures, and even me. I kept watching until I had finally gotten to the part that’s haunted me all these years.

I watch, once again, as the tallest hooded figure approaches me, stabs his finger, draws a pentagram on my chest, and whispers those dreaded words, “Altera militiae in anti christe.” His voice was exactly the same as in my dream. It gave me chills.

But as I thought the video would end, it continued as the tall man retreated to his previous position. He then grabs a book off an altar and begins to recite an incantation out of it. As he reads, I see myself slowly collapsing until I am on my knees and grasping my chest.

I am horrified as I watch myself scream with antagonizing pain. Just when I’m about to close the video and back away from my computer, I see it. I see the most horrifying thing I have ever seen in my life. I watch my spasmodic body turn lifeless as a demonlike figure bursts out of my chest. And just like that, the video ends.

I sit there, frozen. So that’s how my dream ends, or is supposed to end. My mind is struck with fear. I pull my trashcan in close as I vomit into it. I sit, staring at my computer screen, trying to make sense out of a million things. I’m not sure how much time passed before I moved. Minutes? Hours? I’m not sure.

But there was only one thing I made sure I did imediately. I pulled up a translation website and chose to convert Latin into English. I hesitated as I slowly typed in “Altera militiae in anti christe.” I couldn’t believe the words came up on my screen. My eyes almost burst out of their sockets when I saw that the most accurate translation it could give was: “The next host for the anti-christ.”

  1. I’m sorry, but there were some horrid mistakes in this Pasta. First of all, when writing Latin, there is no capital letters unless it’s a name. Secondly, the word order of the Latin was incorrect, and thirdly, it’s “agonizing” not “antagonizing” as many others have pointed out.

  2. “Altera militiae in anti christe” means ‘the second land for the Anti Chrst, just in case anyone was wonderind.

  3. This was bad, but am I seriously the only one who didn’t see an issue with the upside down star on the floor?

Seriously. I know what people are trying to say, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out when you’re standing on an upside down star, if you’re observant enough, that is.

  4. and the five pointed star can reprosent many things. 1, is the 5 elements, fire, earth, water, air, and soul. or inverted can reprosent Baphometh which is the male equivalent of mother earth.

  5. “The next host for the anti-christ.” translates to “Altero exercitu antichristum”
“Altera militiae in anti christe.” translates to “Another soldier in the anti christ”
    just to let you know

  6. I don’t like to tell people that they’re wrong, but the five-pointed star is actually a symbol used to ward off or bind demons, despite common misconceptions. A rather predictable story.

  7. this was a pretty good idea but it could’ve had a bit more suspense and youtube trashed it. The latin was bad but I’m guessing you used an internet translator and they all suck. This is coming from a latin 2 student. But otherwise? Pretty good pasta, 7/10

  8. This pasta started out stupidly (updside-down star… on the FLOOR? Seriously?), and then started with the fake Latin, the crappy spelling, and Youtube? Ugh.

    1/10. I want a refund.

  9. The voicing of the story was overdramatized in a cliche’d sort of way, but the story itself was pretty good. Sent a decent chill down my spine at the end. Not bad.

  10. Well, the latin was already mentioned, the star, too… what made it the worst me personally was the vomit part. So stupid and absolutely needless, I’m sorry.

  11. Teli IS right: on a floor, a star CAN’T be upside-down. And the term is ‘pentacle’ for the symbol you refer to, but it isn’t the symbol for the devil. It’s a symbol of both protection and balance. Satanism perverted it, but even their version is different, one point of the star is noticeably longer than the others.

  12. Also the Latin is entirely wrong; what you wrote would be more closely translated as “the other army in the antichrist”, and I don’t think it’s even grammatical for that. The rest could be maybe passed off, grammar aside, but “militiae” means army. It translates as host as in “a collection of soldiers” (like in the phrase “the heavenly host”) not host as in “one possessed by another being”. I guess it could be passed off as the guy just translating it wrong, but that doesn’t seem to fit how you wanted it.

  13. me again also your pentagram is incorrect thats the symbol the pagans use you want the pentacol I know this is just a story but you really need to do your research before telling your story it helps

  14. first of all teli its not a six pointed star its either a pentagram or a pentacol they both have different meanings a 6 pointed star would mean that its the star of david which is for the jewish religion and the story was getting good for me until the mention of youtube and then it got worse when you mentioned a demon popping out of your chest almost like the demon was taken from the movie aliens good try though

  15. Lol. Wth is an upside-down star? A star can’t be upside-down. You mean a six-pointed star.
Also, agonizing scream, not “antagonizing” scream.

    1. Five-pointed star shape can be upside-down. A six-pointed star cannot and it would just be star of David. An upside down five-pointed star has long been used as symbol of devil in other literatures.

      1. i would like to point out(and im no latin expert so dont quote me) but isint “Christ” in latin “Christo” (cr-e-st-o)

  16. MacabreMacaroni

You should have put “agonizing pain” instead of “antagonizing pain”, but other than that it was ok.

  17. Not to scariest/creepiest thing I’ve ever read, but I’ve read worst. I guess it’s worth reading, if not only for the mental image of a teenage guy in his boxers xP

    1. Maybe do a little more research on the history behind the anti Christ and pagan rituals before writing any more bs. a little Latin and a basic description of a pagan ritual isn’t going to impress any druids or actual devil worshippers .
