The Baron

Estimated reading time โ€” < 1 minute

An odd occurrence has been rumored to happen in a certain pub at night in southwest Germany. If you sit in the stool farthest from the door while one beside it is empty, order a round for yourself and offer to “buy one for the Baron”. The bartender will without question or expression will pour 2 beers from tap. He’ll place one beside you and the moment the other one hits the table the room will go dark and silent, save for the sound of footsteps as a man in uniform sits beside you.
It is believed that it is indeed Captain Manfred von Richthofen, although no one is sure because they can barely see their own glass, much less the person’s face. No one who’s told this story has had the nerve you touch him or risk insult, and the figure does not say a word. But apparently if you were to ask him “So sir, what’s the condition at the front?” he would tell you startling details about the region’s future and sometimes how they connect to the world as a whole. Those who lived long enough after the fact claim that these events took place the exact about of years from the date they asked as from the date Baron von Richthofen died in battle. Yet this cannot be confirmed, because every time the figure has been asked the question after 1964 he’s only replied with a cold laugh.

  1. Well, it’s December 21st 2012 as of me writing this, and the world’s still here. Well, guess the Bloody Red Baron and the Mayans were proven wrong

  2. I can just see it now…
"So listen..uh..baron…i’ve got this place next to the old movie theatre, maybe we could…go there?"

  3. well yeah… because the last poster was still in 2010, posting on the corresponding date exactly two years prior to the day after the world will supposedly end- 12/21/2012.

    He’s just two years early.

Also, I’d wonder if you asked teh sexeh Baron out on a date, how he’d respond… :D

  4. You have the date you ask him the question, with the date the Baron apparently died, the difference between those two events is the same amount of difference in which the events that the Baron tells you, last.

The Baron’s spirit used to tell you of the events in the past, in the war, before he died, with the length of the events matching the amount of time that’s passed after the Baron died to when his spirit tells you the events.

But after 1964, the time doesn’t match up anymore, and the Baron only laughs instead.

Eldery people who have lived long enough, were alive before the point where the time no longer matched up.

Makes sense in a twisted way.

  5. “Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 โ€“ 21 April 1918) was a German fighter pilot known as “The Red Baron”.”

    From Wikipedia.

  6. I agree with Leigh.

K, so you ask him “the condition at the front” and he tells you the future.

If it’s been 6 years after he died, the stuff he says will happen in 6 years. But apparently, this doesn’t happen after ’64? We’d need to know when he died to figure out what that means. Any info, WHO WAS PHONE?
