Kali Yoga

Estimated reading time — 3 minutes

Are you familiar with this thing we call meditation?

Well, that was a foolish thing to ask. Of course you know what meditation is. It’s the thing new age gurus and hippies advocate to improve your well-being. Very simple stuff, y’know. You just sit cross-legged on a surface (hard or soft), close your eyes, get your hands into some kinda position, and start watching your breathing, or whatever it is your instructor tells you to focus on.

Pretty boring stuff, right? Most people find it hard to focus on any one thing, and their minds quickly wander off in search of whatever object or topic they like. It’s unstoppable. You can’t help it. No one can. All you can do is to return your focus to your…let’s call it your anchor. The thing your instructor tells you to focus on, whatever it is.

Now, for most people, this is no problem provided they are not insane. There is, however, one meditative technique that has been passed down among only the members of one particular family. This technique is known as the Kali Yoga.

Don’t bother checking it on Wikipedia. It’s not there. You’ll need to go to a remote part of India to even hear rumors of it. I can’t tell you where it is. To be able to learn this style of Yoga, one is to be guided by none but their own luck. Any attempt to seek it on purpose will fail.

Now, you may ask why one would go looking for this specific school of Yoga. Well, supposedly, a person who managed to complete the training will gain wisdom and knowledge on par with the gods and demons themselves. Nothing on this earth will ever surprise them. They will know all the secrets of the universe. The physical world will matter not at all, for they will know all that it will ever contain.

That said, if you ever managed to find one willing to train you in this endeavor, beware. This article is not on Creepypasta for nothing, you know.

When you start training, you can expect the stuff listed at the top of this article to happen. Once you get to a certain stage, however, you will feel the top of your head getting pulled up to the sky while the area between your privates and buttocks will get pulled down to the ground. You will feel your head piercing the very heavens while the lower part of your body feels like it is sinking far below the ground. You will be able to feel everything going on around your now expanded conscious. Eventually, all the secrets of the universe will be revealed to you.

This is the most dangerous phase.

You see, most people have a spiritual barrier that encompasses the essence of their spirit and soul, a barrier made of all the person’s memory and beliefs. This style of Yoga purposefully creates breaks in the barrier to allow your consciousness to perceive the things hidden by this wall of memories and feelings.

Thing is, this wall is there for a reason. Once removed, you will see all of creation in it entirety. You will see the gods as what they are. So will you see the things we call demons as what they really are. You will learn they are not to be feared, for they are beings with their own set of rules.

You will also perceive the things at the edge of all creation. Black things that seek only to corrupt all that it could.

You will fear them.

You will also seek them, for such is the fascination they imprint on the human soul.

This is where you must resist. This is where you need to return to your anchor. Failure to do so will draw you closer to the true corrupter. You will come to it, and it shall consume you.

Death will be a blessing. Most who fell victim to it will not receive such mercy. The lucky ones go insane, gibbering about the living darkness. Others keep their mental faculty, but they can’t eat, can’t sleep, and will not be able to feel anything but constant pain no matter what they do.

The truly worst off…well, I can’t tell you. They are all gone.

Not dead. I told you that’s a blessing.

  1. Why so low a rating? I considered the story as quite horrifying, but maybe it’s because I do or at least have done meditation. The thought that a certain kind of practice might lead to this stuff is spooky. Although, the state the story describes doesn’t seem like it’s the ‘entirety’ of the universe and the absolute reality or something like that. It sounds very much like an astral plane, which, in this context, sure is real, but even in kind of a weaker sense than our own world. One practicing meditation may enter there if he/she continuosly pays close attention to the impressions that come by when trying to get to the meditative state – they derive from the state in question. Astral plane is a place of imagination, and spending too much time there isn’t good for anyone. Occultists warn against the lures of this state, for it leads away from the truth by letting a person think he/she has accomplished something since it really is quite otherworldly. The other thing, you might go crazy – just like in the story and for same reasons mostly.

  2. Great fun story. I loved it. A very creative idea. I really enjoy this type of existential stuff, and delving into new realms and seeing whats been hiding there. Well written too. 8/10 sir. P.S. Kali is associated with darker themes because she is the goddess of death but also of time and change. She is destroyer and empowerer, so actually quite fitting for your story. Well done. Keep reading and writing!

  3. See, I am an Indian. And honestly, yoga is something SOLELY done to calm one’s mind, by focusing on meditating, we are away from the world at that point of time, and that is why people say it calms one.

Kali yoga, however, is a very different thing. Myth has it that it was performed by a saint- who later became the guide of Suryas or monsters in Indian myth. Someone who is able to do it WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY IT, because doing it already endeavors a lot of pain. And the power one gains after that MAY turn them corrupt. But this is not always true.

And honestly, no one knows an inch of the kali yoga, so it is no use. It is gone with the old pages is life.

    1. Holy hell…it is…
Well, I’m pretty sure that one is harmless, though why they chose Kali as their symbol is baffling given that Kali is mostly associated with the darker aspects of Hindu mythology.

  4. Well, if you don’t believe anything you read up there
Try to get the moral of the story.

“You will see the gods as what they are. So will you see the things we call demons as what they really are. You will learn they are not to be feared, for they are beings with their own set of rules.”

  5. Am I the only person who googled Kali Yoga right after it said
“Don’t bother checking it on Wikipedia. It’s not there.”

    1. lol…started doin same also XD

yoga in theory from how i see it does open onself to a bit more then one can see and hear…though i don’t meditate often…

    1. Well, I’ve never delved into the supernatural aspects of meditational training. I mostly do it as part of my martial arts training and as a means of maintaining my health, so the supernatural aspect is not something I’m interested in. I do know of people who does this specifically for the supernatural aspect, but I never see it as being very practical. I mean, what good is it if you can see spirits or let them into your body and stuff? The most important thing in meditation, IMO, is to sharpen your mental faculties, not chase ghosts.

The line between actual supernatural power and delusion is pretty thin, however, since it’s mostly in your head, so you run the risk of unknowingly becoming a charlatan if you tell other people about the supernatural stuff, if anyone believes you at all.

  6. I’ve always heard things about yoga how your opening yourself to spirits. (which is why I don’t do it) but I do kind of meditate/pray. It helps you focus to just stop and breathe sometimes. Very good story, very well written.

  7. The person who wrote this was pretty close to the truth. Meditation does open your third eye. Your chakras became aligned you see the world differently. Practice enough and you will start seeing Auras, and energy in the Air. I have been wanting to write. A pasta about some of the things I have seen while in a out of body trance

    1. well… you must live a very interesting life if you can separate your mind from your body
      =======================================================
      Enderman- always waiting

  8. This sounds like something i read about a while ago. Something about meditation being black magic or witchcraft and when you practice it you are opening your 3rd eye or something, anyway i liked the story :)

    1. Well, I had personal experience with this kind of thing, though I didn’t actually do yoga. That third eye thing was just one of many possible results.

    1. Yeah..I kinda lost steam at the end there. The idea was sitting in my head so long I lost some of the original oomph.
