This urban legend generator writes a creepy local legend for any town you type in: the place everyone avoids, what supposedly happened there, and the warning passed between friends. It’s for writers needing folklore that feels lived-in, and for readers who want to know what their own town might whisper about. It’s free, instant and private.
How to use it
Enter your town, or leave the box blank for a fictional one, then generate. Urban legends spread because they feel close to home, so keep the ordinary details: the bridge, the bus stop, the cousin of a friend who saw it. Tell your story the way legends are told, secondhand and slightly uncertain. Read our urban legends category, or see how The Portraits builds a lasting chill from a simple anecdote. Expand your legend into a complete story and it could become a submission.

Frequently asked questions
Is my town name stored anywhere?
No. The town you enter is only used in your browser to build the legend and is never sent or saved.
Are these real legends about my town?
No. Every legend is invented for fun and fiction; any resemblance to real places or events is coincidental.
Can I write a story based on my legend?
Yes. Expand it into a complete, original story of 500+ words and you can submit it to Creepypasta.com.
