The Hidden Bride
During a wedding reception of a young couple the guests decided on a drunken game of hide and seek. It was decided that the groom was “it” and he eventually found everyone but his new bride. Eventually the man became furious and decided it wasn’t funny anymore and left her there. As weeks went by he accepted that she’d had second thoughts and went on with her life so he did the same. A few years later a cleaning lady dusted off an old trunk in the attic of the building where the reception had taken place, out of curiosity she opened it. Inside the trunk was the rotted body of the missing bride who’d apparently became locked in the trunk she’d hid in. Whether she’d suffocated or starved was unknown, but her face was frozen in a scream.

I like the scream. Nice and bizarre twist to an otherwise mundane tale.

I remember reading this on /x/. I think it’s rather good, but I agree that overall it’s a bit boring.

In “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” … and yes, the illustrations still make me wet myself.

the only problem ive ever had with the versions of this story is the fact that…wooden trunks arnt soundproof at all. if her face was frozen in a scream why did no one hear.

Once read this in a scary story book it’s good to hear it again just not on one of my favorite sites .-. Although it was a whole lot longer in the bok. ‘Yay short versions.’

That is just creepy. (hey! ceeepypasta! =D) But, i don’t know, you’d think they would be able to hear here thumping around in the trunk. Or at least called the cops.

Oh!
I saw this on…was it called Legend Trippers? I’m sorry, I don’t remember the name of the show; I just remember that I saw it on the Discovery Channel while I was waiting for A Haunting to come on.
Although in that version, I don’t think they found her until it was her sister’s turn to get married.
Anyway, never knew this was a creepypasta as well.

Because whatever made her scream muffled the noises…

I saw this on “Urban Legends”. Apparently it was the brides sister that opened the trunk in prep for her own wedding.

I just saw this story today on Mostly True Stories: Urban Legends.
It was debunking it, because the body would start to smell, and people would find it.
…But it still makes for a good creepy pasta!

Ha, this is a legend from my school, as well.
September 14th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
That’s actually a true story. It was at the wedding reception and they were playing hide and seek, the bride went upstairs to her childhood hiding place, but when she closed the trunk, it locked…

and whatever made her scream and muffled the noises managed to get through solid wood, so it might have left a preserving aura…

I’ve heard this one told about an ancestral home in England some time in the 16th century- some book on British folklore mentioned it.
