The Guardian Angel

Estimated reading time — 3 minutes

And I am always with you.

I was there from the time you were born. I stood in the delivery room, staring down at you before you could even open your eyes to see me. Your parents, relatives and doctors couldn’t see me there, in the corner, watching you with cloudy eyes, but I was there from the time you were born.

And I followed you home.

I was with you always, your constant companion. You played with your toys alone while I stared from all angles in nearby mirrors; my matted, clotted hair with oily sweat that hung off my dented forehead like glue. I was always your constant companion, drifting behind your mother’s car on your ride to preschool. You alone in the bathroom, but I was on the other side of the door, wind whistling through the bruised hole in my throat. My arms twisted and hanging in their sockets as I stood hunched on the other side of the shower curtain. I wait and follow you. I follow and drift behind you.

I’m not seen. I’m almost not-there in light. You never saw me that morning as I sat across from you at the breakfast table, a shiny red clot hanging from an empty tooth socket as I gaped grotesquely at you. I wonder sometimes if you know I’m there. I think you are aware, but you’ll never understand just how close I am.

I spend hours of your day doing nothing more than breathing in your ear.

Breathing – gagging, really.

I crave to be close to you, to always wrap my crippled arms around your neck. I lie near you ever single night, cloudy eyes staring at your ceiling, underneath your bed, at your sleeping face in the dark.

Yes. You caught me staring occasionally. Your parents came running down to your room one night when you screamed. You were just beginning to talk, so you were only able to cry out “Man! Man in my room!” You thought you’d never forget the sight of me, with my collapsed jaw hanging to my chest, swinging back and forth. I sank back into your closet and your mother was unable to see me though you pointed and pointed and pointed. You thought you’d never forget when they left that same night. You saw the closet door crack so softly and me crawling across the floor to your bed on all fours, shambling in jerking movements as I pushed myself under your bed on disjointed limbs.

You learned a new word for me: boogeyman. Not quite the monster you thought I was. I’m just waiting and following you always, touching your face with my knotted fingers as you sleep.

You’ll see me again soon. Any day now, I’m coming, blunt and brutal. One day you’ll walk across the road and – I believe I’ll plow into you with loud roar and a screech.

You rolling on the pavement, rolling under wheels, bluntforce metal fenders and my fingers touching your face again and again.

As you stare up from the cold pavement with cloudy eyes; your matted, clotted hair hanging in your face and your jaw unhinged and swinging to your chest.

You’ll see me approaching.

No one else will see me. You will stare past them into my eyes and I’ll leer down at you. For the first time in our life, something like a smile will come over my face. You’ll swear you’re looking into a mirror as clotted red bubbles from our mouths.

I’ll lean down, past the doctors and the oogling people and pick you up in my crooked arms.

Our faces will touch. My wings will unfurl. And then you’ll have to follow me.

And I am always with you.

I am your guardian angel.

  1. Not sure if this is correct, but what I gathered from the story was the guardian angel was your future death. It was death itself. And it was protecting you and watching over you, waiting until the moment you were truly destined to die. It’s your death, and that’s why it takes on that form… pero.. me gusta :3

  2. LalaCreepyBanana

I was looking up ways to contact my guardian angel and spirit guides when I came across this story… And I am now scared shitless, thinking “Whyyyyyyyyy?!?” ‘-‘

  3. Why does this story calm me it makes me feel safe, and protected. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH ME?!!?

  4. I’m just gonna go lie in bed next to my boyfriend and not sleep now, I’m going to just hide under the blankets…. if you need me that’s where I’ll be for the next 3 days

  5. I feel like this was inspired by the idea that our guardian angels look like us when we die. A pretty fresh approach, I should say.

  6. Nice to know this being respects privacy, standing outside the bathroom door and on the other side of the shower curtain, a true gentleman. :-)
I guess the story is supposed to be creepy, given the description of the “angel”, but it’s not to me.

  7. My family is Catholic, so my mother goes on about how my sister and I have guardian angels watching over us…nice to know it’s true!
Except from her descriptions, I didn’t expect mine to be the creeper I saw under my bed when I was little. Still, I would eat this pasta again. 9.5/10.

  8. Cool story. Weird, creepy yet oddly beautiful.

Though, my guardian angel is a male with a skunk’s head instead of a human head…

Am I to become a test subject of a gender-changing, animal-fusing mad scientist in the future? O.o

  9. Nice to know that my guardian angel is an elderly woman. She pushed me out of the way of a speeding car and my friend saw her.
I’m gonna die an old lady!

But this. Oh, this… It’s beautiful. I didn’t know if I should feel threatened or comforted. So often the ugly and grotesque is the evil, and I love seeing the ugly be the good and the beautiful be the evil.

    Would definitely eat again.

  10. I wrote a short story with the same premise as this in college. Mine was more prose though, this one would make a wonderful poem.

  11. my friend read this to me last night, it frigging scared the FREAK out of me, like seriously, i couldn’t even sleep, and i had to sleep on the floor…by myself ! but anyway, this was creepy as fffff and completely epic ! <3

  12. This is the first CreepyPasta I’ve commented on since discovering the site.
I’m really impressed with this story, and it’s really kind of disturbing, but also very sweet. It’s a scary sort of comfort that makes you wonder, “Is this really how it is? Is our ‘guardian angel’ really just us when we die?”
At least it’s not some random creeper (seeing as the description was boogeyman).

  13. I feel like i’ve read this one before. Weird.

Good pasta though. I didn’t find it sad at all, just creepy. Very descriptive imagery. Nicely executed.

  14. This was awesome – it reminds me of a short story by Horrowitz that I read called “The Man with the Yellow Face”

    Awesome pasta :D

  15. Jesus Christ… bricks have been most definitely shat. Not sure what the fuck I’m doing at 4 in the goddamn morning reading creepy pasta…. but this one got to me.

It touched me in a way that I’m not entirely sure I like being touched.

  16. This is my absolute favorite creepy pasta. It was the only one that really got to me when I tried to sleep. I kept expecting something to glide its fingers accross my face. One of my friends says she flinches everytime something touches her face after reading this.
I hope to read more of your work.

  17. Reminds one very much of Ryuk and Light, does it not — ?
^ whoever said this, YES. I knew it reminded me of something, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

  18. This story is sweet in that creepy sort of way guess thats y they call it creppy pasta. i’ve never feared the boogyman but i am a wimp when it come to scary things but i love this site i cant seem to stay away. =D

  19. Oh My goodness. I love this story. Makes me not feel lonely anymore. Creeps me out though. ^^; Lol. Your Guardian Angel being you? I would’ve never expected that. Absolutely fantastic. :)

  20. Absolutely wonderful. Your guardian angel is the only one who understands you completely. It’s like the ultimate form of sympathy and compassion…and still creepy as all hell.

  21. The description of the actual angl was what creeped me out. Picturing what you thought would be lovely and handsome would actually be ugly and deformed. And always following you :s

  22. yeah a few people have said it, my “guardian” angel isnt much of a guardian.

mofo better stop calling himself that.

  23. U R PHONE!!!!!!!!!!

I loved this. It’s so sweet in a slightly disturbing way. As someone who has abandonment issues, i can safely say I feel alot better now. ^_^

  24. Goddamn….I’m a BITCH, letting myself die like that. I REALLY hope the car that hits me is a porsche. Have fun with the insurance!!!

In all seriousness, this is probably one of the most disturbing short stories I’ve read. Whoever wrote this, well done.

  25. o.O Holy Crap! sounds lika stalker ghost more than a guardian angel.

¨I spend hours of your day doing nothing more than breathing in your ear.Breathing – gagging, really.¨ … that one was pretty vivid in my mind. i think i felt something near my ear. ah!

¨me crawling across the floor to your bed on all fours, shambling in jerking movements ¨…..eeeeeeek!><

  26. 1. bravo! i rather enjoyed it.

    2. it’s also somewhat sad…i found it more sad than frightening. ur angel isn’t really guarding u though, more like comforting and making sure you’ll be with someone when you die. i was touched…but now i shall remember to look left, right, then left again before i cross the street O.o

    3. with jaw unhinged he still managed to smile?…amazing

    4. what the fuck hit u an RV?! all the damage u got, jeez louise!

    that is all

  27. This one isn’t so scary as disturbing.
I’d like to be able to see this gaurdian angel, to be honest.

I quite like this pasta. c:

  28. This one is so touching in a creepy way

It’s kind of comforting to know that there is always someone with you, and that you’re not going to die along

Although it’s a little unsettling knowing that if you were to get murdered or hit by a car, you’ll have to see what you look like.

Still, this is my favorite creepypasta :]

  29. It’s sad..and sweet at the same time.Thoroughly, I think that even though your angel is frightening, and grotesque…the well-meaning comfort it longs to give, the gentle touches it tries to share…No matter what, even your guardian angel can’t stop death…but they can be there for you when it’s your time.

  30. this gave me chills. the description of the ‘guardian angel’ was awesome and how he was explaining it from his end added a nice touch to the story.

    Bricks thoroughly shat.

  31. Okay…..This was wreid but you know i think this real because I saw someone looking at me one night the person looked just like me[[i had no mirrors in my room because i had gotting in to a fight with my mom and i knocked my mirror over and i broke]]the person was really bloody tho she just smiled at me and i went back to bed the next day i found a huge blood stain under my bed luckly the week before i had my parents remove my carpeting so i could get wood floor but i will never ever forget that night of Nov.1 2003.

  32. This was very beautiful, heart warming actually. I think i would feel more of comfort if I had someone like that

  33. This is probably the best creepypasta story or simply the best short story I have ever’s beautiful..

  34. One day I hope to see a old man dressed in incredibly expensive clothes, clutching a £10000 laptop and £1000 phone in his fingers, watching me.

  35. I read this while listening to a song I haven’t heard in forever, and forgot about the really loud, creepy whispering towards the end…bad idea.

  36. BlackDragonBloodLust

creepy, but it kind of feels reassuring, like yes this horrid creature is scary as hell, and wtf its you after you’re dead, but just knowing that you wont be alone when you die, knowing you have someone ((… have…you? idk)) to go with you, someone who always knew what was going to happen and knew how they would help you…i like it…

  37. emogirl- I think the ‘guardian angel’ is supposed to be you AFTER you were hit by the car… Sort of like a predetermined fate thing.

  38. I was so scared last night after reading this, I couldn’t sleep for hours, and when I was finely ready to drop, I had to grab a rosary, protective herbs, and throw up every shielding spell I know, and kept twitching and chanting “I’m fine, it’s just creepypasta, I’m fine. Nothing can hurt me. I’m safe, it’s just a story!” *noise* “OH GOD NO! *cries*”

I have seriously never been this scared by a creepypasta before! Awesome job finding these, WHO WAS PHONE!

  39. That was creepy.
Very good. But does that mean the “boogeyman” is really your guardian angel and that your guardian angel is really your dead, future self?

  40. My guardian angel is always with me. He keeps me safe, though imposters are constantly trying to kill him. One time, a bullet went right for my head! But he was there, and when the bullet shattered my skull, he took me in his arms and we lived together forever.

    1. He stood around and let you get shot in the head? He’s not a very good guardian angel then, is he? Also, you’re annoying.

    1. Cucumberr Souppp

      Dear Mr. Welldone,

Hi. Please. Marry me. I’m a woman by the way. I’m a solid 8/10. I think you’re brilliant. I love your stories, your words.
