The Blind Man’s Favor

Estimated reading time — < 1 minute

In Berlin, after World War II, money was short, supplies were tight, and it seemed like everyone was hungry. At that time, people were telling the tale of a young woman who saw a blind man picking his way through a crowd. The two started to talk. The man asked her for a favor: could she deliver the letter to the address on the envelope? Well, it was on her way home, so she agreed.

She started out to deliver the message, when she turned around to see if there was anything else the blind man needed. But she spotted him hurrying through the crowd without his smoked glasses or white cane. She went to the police, who raided the address on the envelope, where they found heaps of human flesh for sale.

And what was in the envelope? “This is the last one I am sending you today.”

  1. First paragraph: :l
    Second paragraph: 8l
    Last line: 8o……

I like creepypasta’s that can have that sort of effect on me.

  2. This was a story in Horrible Histories, and the writing was of higher quality. Quite disappointed that they’ve put this on here and they haven’t mentioned that that’s where they got the story from. It was either in The Frightful First World War or Woeful Second World War, can’t remember which, just remember it freaking me out as a kid!

  3. Am I the only one that doesn’t know WHY they were selling human flesh and why anyone, besides maybe a cannibal which I doubt is really that common, would buy it?!

  4. I’m Certain that this is a real story and actually happened! Eating people did happen in Germany and Russia so I wouldnt be suprised!

  5. lol this was in a horrible histories book and heard it so many times in so many different formats, old pasta which needs a new sauce

  6. I got it no problem. Then again, I’m a fan of cannibal stories so…yeah.

I liked it. Didn’t scare me, but I liked it.

  7. This is from a horrible histories book and you missed out key points. The girl was supposed to be coming home from school late yadda yadda and the blind man says ‘better hurry, it’s getting dark’ and she’s supposed to internally question how he knew it was dark and THEN she realises to go to the police station. If you’re going to copy something, at least do it right. Althought it’s not an OP i still love this story. 5/10 for trying

  8. Marvin the Martian

this was from a book, but a longer version and the woman was a male. I have the book but I forgot what it’s called, and do not know where it is.

  9. I’d like to pat the author on the back for being able to blatantly steal a classic story and still be able to get onto creepypasta with high praise. I’ve read and heard this story several times…it was even in a book of Urban Legends for chrissake. So, again….congratulations, author.

  10. @lol; I also read this in Horrible Histories as a kid.
It’s true, or so the book claims – go back and check your copy.

  11. awesome, the best creepy pasta i have ever eaten, those who didnt get it werent reading it properly

short, creepy and with a shocker ending – superb :)

  12. I remember reading this (albiet a better written version) in Horrible Histories.
Still damn good either way, if a bit short.

  13. The basic story here (stranger asks person to deliver letter, letter turns out to be a request to get the messenger killed/devoured, letter gets intercepted and protagonist is saved) is one that shows up in folktales from all over. In Japan it’s usually a kappa or a water spirit sending a meal to a relative in another pond, who then gets tricked into giving up some magical treasure. VERY OLD CREEPYPASTA.

  14. @Hot Sauce
The man isn’t blind. He asked her to send the letter so that the people in the address can kill her and offer her for sale as food. The letter was a trick to make people go there. The woman found out that he wasn’t blind, so she called the cops, they discovered heaps of human flesh for sale. They sell humans because “it seemed like everyone was hungry.”

    Anything else you can’t understand?

  15. Explanation- “This is the last one I am sending you today.” The note is talking about the woman. Food shortage means no normal foods we eat. Apparently someone was resorting to cannibalism, and the old “blind” (he wasn’t really blind) man was helping to get people to go to them.

    1. Well the man was actually sending people to this place so that they could get killed, skinned, stripped of their meat and sold on the market as "Pork" because pork is the closest similarity texture and taste to human flesh.

        1. It’s actually true, I saw it on a documentary about famous cannabilists. They interviewed about 2, and one said that human flesh, no matter how it is…”cooked” tastes like burnt pork. Fun Fact of the day :D

    1. It meant that the address on the envelope was a human flesh market, so when she got there, she would have gotten skinned and her flesh sold.

    2. I’m relatively new to this site just discovering it two days ago (forgive me creepy pasta fans) and I find it enthralling how people dont understand simple stories … What really gets to me though is when the story was explained in a recent comment -_-

  16. Smart, and creepy. This is even creepier because of the fact that i’m alone in my house, it’s raining, it’s 1am, and I’m listening to “One of These Days” and Grindcore metal.

    1. basically the blind man was sending her to a house where a person skins the people and sells the skins and the letter said this is your last victim for today.

    2. the people at the house were killing people the ‘blind’ man sent them and selling their flesh because there wasnt enough food to go around. when she saw he wasnt blind she went to the police, otherwise she’d have been chopped up next.
