Just A Meaningless Coincidence

Estimated reading time — < 1 minute

In 1938, over 6,000 patients were checked into mental hospitals all across America within one week of each other. Reports of similar instances supposedly came from Europe and Asia as well. The circumstances of each patient were, eerily, identical.

Every patient completely shut down, shivering in the corner until their family, unable to calm or care for the individuals, committed them.

The only thing the patients would say was: “There is not, and never has been, such a thing in this world as a meaningless coincidence.”

  1. I feel like there should be a paragraph that mentions something else they had in common. Like they all were watching the same channel on TV or near the same kind of physical landmark at the same time. Just to make it a little more connected.

  2. Let me say this the way that Horatio Cane might have said it.

It seems that they’ve gone mad *stops to put on sunglasses* from the revelation.

  3. bad pasta. hey one of my trees is really skinny with lots of branches it seems to be coming closer how odcvbvbbb88

  7. Ha, well as interesting as it seems & i hate to be the one to say this. Buuuhh i don’t get it. D:
    explain :(

  8. “This reminds me of the Holders for some reason.”

On the King Of Wolves, the Holders is presented after some creepypasta. The first line of the opening introduction is:

“There is no such thing as a coincidence. There never has been and never will be.”

Could be an unconscious association between the two if you were introduced to the Holders there (as I was, and I thought of the Holders when I read this).

  9. Whoah…. I really like this story.

I have the strange urge to try it, but i’m afriad If I do I wont be able to tell anyone about it.

    Someone should try it…

    someone brave.

  11. 1938 June 30 – Action comics #1 is published, this is the first publication featuring the comic book character known as Superman

January 1 – The Merrie Melodies cartoon short Daffy Duck and Egghead is released.

  12. I think the vaguery is what’s supposed to make it spooky.

6,000+ people around the world. Catatonic. Muttering that phrase.

Makes you wonder what’s going on.

  13. This is too vague. What event caused them to become like that? What coincidences in particular are they on about?

I’m sorry, but that just ruins it for me.

    1. Dammit lol I didn’t think then I read this comment and now I’m thinking about this creepypasta and now every coincidence I’ve ever had now seems like a lie what.

    2. This is actually true. It was when the medical professionals weren’t that “professional”. They even poked ther eyes out so that hey coulden’t anyone with theur “condition”.

  14. The person formally known as "Noneya"

This has always been my favorite creepypasta.

I dont even know why, but it just gives me the willies each time I read it.

  15. This is the second best story on this site. This also is the only story that terrifys me, so that’s a good thing, I guess…
