Scary Paranormal Stories & Short Horror Microfiction

Creepypasta

FavoriteLoadingAdd this post to your list of favorites!

This month’s topic was suggested by Dave Taylor, and big thanks to him because I was having trouble coming up with a topic!

It’s pretty self-explanatory. If you’re a reader only, why do you feel so drawn to reading scary and creepy stories? If you’re a writer, do you have a reason for your desire to create horror fiction? If you’re both, well, you get to answer both questions!

Last month I asked how you discovered Creepypasta, and I guess that this question is sort of the inevitable continuation – why did you stick around? What about creepypastas compels you to want to continue reading and/or writing them?

I look forward to seeing your answers!

I started reading creepypasta and will continue, mostly because its right up my ally! I love spooky, creepy, scary, etc.. Kinda stuff! When I was little I would always lookup stories then research about the myth and tell my own scary stories bout them, but I haven’t written any; I’m just not the best writer out there. Lol. Creepy pastas keeps me interested and makes me keep coming back to see what’s new and more scary!

I am a reader of creepypasta, i think i read them because everyone likes getting the poo scared out of them every now and then, but after a while it has actually helped me deal with my fears. For instance im not afraid of the dark anymore. i also think it is the all around aspect of how i love to read anyways, i usually only read scary stories in the dark and it just gives it more of a thrill

I really don’t know, but I’m sort of obsessed with creepypastas, I really love seeing blood, killers, freaky things, and to be honest I think many of the creepypasta characters are hot.. o_o <3 and I'm just a reader.

I love this website, keep up the great work! ^^

and finally, thank you so much for bringing up things to fill my time and some of my interests, I used to have some sort of lacking on that side.

    Love, Noora. c:

I’m just a reader. I like scary stories that leave me with a feeling that there’s something malicious out there, even if my mind says otherwise. Not a lot of stories do that, but it’s still fun to read them, and they’re free. My favorite is probably the first I read, which was The Rake.

I’d like to submit something one day – but only after I’ve written something feels truly polished, excellent, and of course, creepy.

I write simply because I love to write; but I tend to write horror because I enjoy coming up with ideas for monsters, creatures, killers etc. I’d much rather write an interesting/scary/creepy/sad story than I would anything else. Seeing comments from people about being scared or creeped out makes it all worthwhile, but I have to say, even if nobody seen my stories, I would still write for myself.

i only very recently stumbled upon this site.
come to think of it, i dont even remember exactly how..
just more of my latenight internet puttering.
    since then im addicted.
starting when i was a little girl, ever since i can remember, ive loved sitting in bed at night with a flashlight and reading things to scare the hell out of myself.
i also have always dabbled in writing, mostly just for fun but have also taken a fair amount of courses, (though not enough that i’d be confident in submitting any of my own short stories yet, lol)
and i just really really really have enjoyed reading what you all have written.
some of it is… a little less than scary, but then some of it has kept me awake at night, lol.

thanks so much for this site,
and every one of the stories which keep me sleeping with a nightlight:)

    xo

I read these stories because I think they’re very interesting. I don’t really like to be scared (I don’t watch scary movies at all) but I love the monsters or whatever. I love all the sudden plot twists and the endings that leave you creeped out and make you think. I don’t write my own yet but I’m thinking about doing it because I’m normally a pretty good writer and I think I would be good at stories like these

I read them because I find it fun to unsettle my self and be afraid to turn around. I am also a big woos so i read them in the day to help become more “brave” I guess you can call it. My last reason is I print out the short ones and read them to friends at school, they hate it. (trolololololol)

The thrill and mystery. The best pastas are subtle and eerie. Lavender Town Syndrome was my first ever, and after reading many, some entertained me, some made me think, some were pure awesome, some were terrifying, but nothing scared me like Candle Cove. The mystery and thrill was awesome. I love Creepypasta

been reading horror to scare the socks off myself since i was a little girl.
i picked up my first book when i was about 4 years old, and as soon as i learned to write, i used to staple construction paper together to fashion and write my own little books.
was always always drawn to the horror side of things:)
i loved when i’d read something deliciously scary, and i’d sleep with the lights on.
i always made up stories and little urban legends to scare the other kids in my class.

there’s just nothing that beats that spine-tingling, hair raising feelin’.

come to think of it, i kinda wish i still had all those construction-paper books.
i’d like to see what i could make now, out of the imaginative ideas i’d had as a child;)

Oh, Jeez, that’s the same thing I did when I was young, though my stories were about ghosts and ghouls, not really about Slendy and others like him

I write because writing is an act of creating, and creating gives a sense of power. In addition, writing gives you a subtle influence upon your reader. If you’re an exceptional writer, you can change someone’s mood, thoughts, and outlook, however temporary.

Bringing fear to people is fun, which is why I write creepypasta. Horror is a good genre to write in if you want to really change people. Everyone knows about the effectiveness of fear mongering, so it’s like that in a way.

Everyone likes being scared…there is something so childlike and innocent about the thrill we get from the unknown…I’m a grown up and grown up life sucks lol so I like to read creepypastas to take me back to my childhood every now and then..the childhood where a dark room is scary and there just might be a monster under your bed:)

I read horror stories because I want to be frightened. I want to see if I CAN be frightened – most of these stories don’t seem to scare me, and I desperately want something to be able to. I can’t quite say why I want that feeling – perhaps it’s the fact that I’m a masochist.

I also feel rather sad when things don’t frighten me; I feel as if there’s a whole world out there that I cannot enjoy because of my lack of emotional response. I would love to watch horror movies, but it’s hard to find any that are scary to me. I just end up being disappointed.

Maybe it’s the desire to feel anything at all. I went through a long period during which I felt so little, but I can’t say whether fear is a good substitute for nothing.

I agree with SilentWolfSpirit – I desire the feeling of true fear; I feel a deep desire in me to be terrified, though I wish I could put into words why I felt so! I would dearly love to write horror stories, but that is my main weakness – I cannot easily express what I think with words. It is a terrible thing, burdened as I am with a profound love for our mixed-up language, not to be able to express myself. I do better with poetry, though I am sure many of you would have something to say about that!

Because an online friend decided “Hey, I’m up at 2am and scared witless, I will now pass down this awful experience onto you at 2am,” and linked me here. Which, of course, freaked me out and then I passed it down onto others; so on and so forth. I guess the best way to describe it would be getting on a rollercoaster and climbing that steep hill right before the big dive. It’s a terrifying but exhilarating experience. Who doesn’t love to be scared?

I read not for the thrill, but for the satisfaction based on the riots of a person’s by what they feel and think. My first pasta was slenderman I think. Creepypastas don’t scare me but I read them to addict my mind to read more thus a big fan here!

I love to read horror, watch horror, and write horror. Takes a lot to scare me.

Can’t wait to submit some creepypasta! I’ve written three stories so far!

One is a government conspiracy, the other a (true) haunted video, and the last an apocalyptic horror. Check me out on FictionPress! ~ Astroblitz x
