I Love You Guys!

Estimated reading time — < 1 minute

You guys hit the $200 within just a few hours (!!!!!!!), so once that’s all processed and paid out, we’re good to go with Sucuri. Thank you so much to everyone who donated! I’m removing the link to the donation site since we hit the goal, I’d feel weird and greedy if I were to continue linking it after reaching our goal =P

Anyhow, we’ve had 3+ days without the malware rearing its ugly head again, so I think it’s safe for those of you who were going RSS only to return. I’ll be getting back to work on getting through submissions since up until yesterday I was far too distracted by the infection to actually read any stories.

Which I’m going to get started on after I’ve had my coffee and breakfast! As an aside, anyone have suggestions for future discussion posts? I haven’t created the November one yet and I am totally blanking. SEND HELP.

    1. YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE USERNAME!

Um derpbutt, if you ever see this, I don’t remember every typing this comment ever…
…I think it might be fake?

    1. LOL one time I tried to read a story on creepypasta wikia, and some admin put pictures of JTK all over the place and I was like OMG WHAT THE HECK? I hate the admin there. This website’s WAY better.

  1. YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE USERNAME!

And if you use the november idea, add, what actors you’d like to see play who, what kind of film, how long, yada yada. :D

  2. Hey, derpbutt – you should totally leave the donate button up.

Heck, you should make a new donate button that goes straight to your very own Paypal account. There’s nothing wrong with you making a little extra money on the side from all the work you put into keeping this site up and running, and if you wanted to do the occasional contest I’m sure people would happily chuck their money at you.

Personally, I didn’t give anything during your whole "my site is hacked" thing, mostly because I didn’t visit during that time. That being said, I think you do a lot for the community, and I wouldn’t be opposed to throwing a few bucks your way every now and then if it was an option.

  3. Lol I have an issue, with my phone I can’t click on the link for ‘contact us’. It shows up as text. And I have an idea -tad bit too long to write on here with my phone & and no internet on computer for a while. Help?
-movie idea is great and I like the 3 paragraph one-

  4. Dang! I was afraid this site wouldn’t be saved! So glad that you reached your goal :) I always visit this site between classes.

    1. Probably not. Remember, before this happened, I was already behind – and the malware attack pretty much put an end to any submission reading for almost an entire week. I’ve just started reading again, and even after reading 100+ yesterday (I know that some of you will say that doesn’t sound like much, but I’m actually reading everything and some are quite long, plus I do break to do other things like eat, sleep, work, household chores, sometimes even let myself indulge in actual fun, so on and so forth) there are still around 800 in the queue. I want to make significantly more progress, if not finish the queue altogether, before reopening.

There’s also the issue of still not having a decent submission contact form. That’s something else that I didn’t have time to bother with.

Keep in mind that my priorities have been with the malware attack over the past week, guys.

Please use this time to refine your in-progress pastas by having people peer edit them IRL or on sites like Terror Tortellini or /x/ – so that when submissions are re-opened your pasta is ready. Particularly those of you who tend to write things and then don’t even proofread before submitting them, I’m looking at you!

      1. Yeah, I noticed that like 4+ pages of pastas showed up on crappypasta.

That’s the beauty of crappypasta as a site, before we could only see the pastas being posted on the main site, with the addition of crappypasta we can suddenly see just how many stories of questionable quality you have to read to find those rare gems.

Also, it is entertaining as hell.

        1. Yeah, I dumped a whole lot on you guys at once. I’ve got some more in a folder waiting to post on Crappy, but I figure I’d give you a day to read the multiple pages of pastas from the other night first!

I’d say submissions tend to break down into 60% Crappypasta, 30% Rejected but checked no, and 10% approved for the main site.

It’s just unfortunate that so many of those rejections are because they clearly didn’t proofread or edit at all before submitting.

That’s why I’m getting all schoolmaster on you guys and asking people to use the closed submission time to make sure they proofread, to cut down on the amount of pastas that are basically dead on arrival.

        2. I think if I were you I’d be tempted to just trash a lot of the stuff that ends up on Crappypasta. I’m glad you don’t because we get to have so much fun with some of them but I would think work wise it would reduce the load. The obvious trolls and people trying for Crappypasta seems to be growing exponentially.

      2. How far are you up to on submissions?

I wrote a pasta in August and I could swear I checked the box. I am nervous because I also submitted a revision, and I think I was following the rules correctly, but what if I missed something?

I would use the "Contact Us" form but it is broken for me.

        1. To prove I’m not crazy, I know that @creepypastacom follows @zsdavies. If you look back through my tweets, you’ll see The Dog Stealer gets mentioned August 5. So, at least I thought I had it submitted then. I never did get a confirmation email or anything. If this turns out that I never hit the Submit button or something (although I seem to remember it looking like it went through), I’m sorry for wasting your time.

  5. Discussion Idea: Let Us Play A Game

derpbutt suggests a general theme for a pasta (creepy dolls, Splendaman, WWII-era, alcoholism). We pasta connoisseurs then compose a SHORT (3 paragraphs max) pasta using that theme.

    Who wins: Everybody

  6. "What is your definition of evil?"
I just find it funny how ‘evil’ is interpreted in so many different ways by so many different writers, lets put it on the record!

    1. I would personally love to see a Jeff the Killer or Slenderman Film with real actor, instead just stories read out with a picture.

  7. YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE USERNAME!

A november discussion post? Changes for the site? New rules? Creepypasta author of the month? I dunno. Just ideas. Congrats on the donations. :D

  8. I think it would be cool if there was a way to request a pasta. I know that I personally have a lot of trouble getting my ideas across, and I can write and write and not manage to convey the feeling that I intended. There are very talented writers all over the place and I think they could really do a good job of bringing a basic idea to life for those of us who don’t quite connect our imagination to the…keyboard.
