Hotel California

Estimated reading time — < 1 minute

They say that somewhere in western America, some say in Utah, others say on the California coast, there’s a small motel on the side of the road.

When you go inside, it’s decorated in very common hotel attire, with the paneling and old fashioned key-lock doors.

The thing is, there’s a room in there for everybody. Everybody has a reservation for exactly when they show up, and the number of rooms available is always one more than the number of people there. One person to a room, that is the rule.

It’s said that the song “Hotel California” is based off this motel, though you *can* leave this particular motel.

I wouldn’t advise looking at a mirror for at least a month after doing so, though.

  1. Fuck me I have a mirror in The left side of my bed. Right side is pushed against a wall so there is no way I can avoid looking at it.

  2. NotAnOminousname

It seemed more of an indication that the person will be haunted. Spirits they could only see in the mirror, maybe? :/

I don’t understand…what’s with the mirror? MIRRORS ARE OUR FRIENDS!!! ASK BLOODY MARY!!! SHE IS LITERALLY ATTACHED TO ONE!!! Well, not quite…but you get the point…

  4. That was… really bland. There’s no real horror factor here at all, and it just feels kind of disappointing all in all. Safe to say, even the Hotel California song is more sary than this.

  5. Does anybody else find this story kind of creepy cause when I was about 5 years old I went and stayed at the hotel California and my parents told me not to look in the mirror but I made the mistake of looking anyway and what I saw I cannot un saw it was a long dark figure he looked a little like slender man but he had eyes they weren’t just any eyes they were bright blue they were beautiful and terriffing I call him jeffery

  6. Hotel California is about hell you are always there and the beautiful face is the head of the satanist church so I personally get it listen to the song and you will know what im talking about

    1. Hotel California is actually about being trapped in a cycle of addiction and hedonism. “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.” The connection to Anton LaVey has been directly disputed by Don Henley.

  7. On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
‘this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
    I thought I heard them say…

    Welcome to the hotel california
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted, she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
    ‘please bring me my wine’
He said, ‘we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say…

    Welcome to the hotel california
    Such a lovely place
    Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said ‘we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
    And in the master’s chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
    Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
    ‘relax,’ said the night man,
    We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
    But you can never leave!

  8. It took 20 guitars to make that song (or so I’m told in my guitar class). TWENTY. GUITARS. Yet someone decided that a creepypasta had to be made, and an uninformative one, at that. So disappointing. The song has the potential to be a great horror movie. The idea that you can never leave. What’s keeping you from leaving? Does the exit door lead to the entrance door? Is it a portal, like in the game Portal? I’m just going on with nonsense now, I’m tired and such, but oh well. I NEED ANSWERS AS TO WHY A SONG THAT TOOK SO MUCH EFFORT TO MAKE HAS BEEN TURNED INTO AN UNINFORMATIVE, ROOKIE PASTA!

this is so tool bait material. what happens if i look in the mirror? are my eyes sunken, souless pits? will i go mad with insanity and rip my hair out till my scalp bleeds? or will i see demons everywhere around me, mindlessly killing everyone i come in contact with? finish the damn thing

  11. so…if i were to host a gigantic rave…at this hotel…with a ton of people…BY GEORGE, I’VE GOT IT! *calls up friend* party. Hotel California. Tonight. WE HAVE BEDS

  13. hotel california was a state hospital in camarillo, california. a member of the eagles was admitted there for his alcohol addictions.

  15. WELCOME TO THE HOTEL UTAH/CALIFORNIA
dude, it must be cali, I’ve lived in Utah before and I’ve never seen one… if it’s in utah must be in the Slenderman Forest!

  16. Personally I would have finished it with “Because I’ve been there, and I’ve never been the same again. and that prune juice? You really ought to try it. It’s actually really tasty.” But then again, Your story has a good ending. I allows the mind to fill in the missing details with he most frighting thing it can come up with (Jeff the Killer, The Rake, Terrifying monster).

  17. Actually, it’s about drug addiction and rehab and stuff. I know someone who is a drug addict and they told her all about it when they went to rehab.

  18. No. No no no no no. The song is NOT about an actual hotel. It’s about life in California. Ya know, glamor, fame, Hollywood, famous people. “The Life.” Its not about a hotel. Get your facts straight.

    1. Oh come on, we all know what the song is about. there’s no reason to be a “fact-checker”. Its just a cutesy entry.

  19. Why do you not look into the mirror? Staying at Hotel California makes Zalgo haunt you?

…Sorry. Had to be said. :c

  20. Sweet Jesus, I shat brix.

Was listening to Hotel California as I read this, had a freaky-ass dream about it. Pretty sure it was influenced by the song and this bit of Pasta.

Someone tell the guy that made this to get his bum ass back in the kitchen already. With a bit of work, we might be reading the work of the next Josef K. or something.

  21. The song *Hotel California* is actually about the Lido, which is now an apartment complex on Wilcox ave near Hollywood Blvd.

  22. there’s no real consequence
    a warning
anything can happen if you look in a mirror before a month is up…
something bad obviously but curiosity would get the better of me

  23. The Tainted Truth

Hmm there is an actull part in the song were there are mirors on the celing : O Could that possibley be it Intresting add on Anoy: It’s good :3 but a bit distracting and not to related

  24. hehehehe! i like the rest of the story, tho wat if you loooked in the mirror wen ur in the hotel? will you still DIE

  25. That’s a little too drastic for this pasta, Anonymous. Also, it’s “tale,” not “tail.” I suggest something more subtle. Can’t think of anything right now, but I’ll post it if I do.

  26. This sounds unfinished. Let’s finish it up!

How about something along the lines of:

“People will stop you on the street, and ask what happened. You will remain unable to anwer them the first month, but if the questions continue you will be forced to tell the tail, driving the person into insanity. You will tell this story without any recolection of what actually happened, nor any clue as to what you actually look like. However, if you do let curiosity get the best of you, and you do decide to look in the mirror…. well let’s just say that the last person who did that was found dead with claw marks across his eyes and chest, and blood covering the mirror to near opacity.”

    Yeah, sure that sounds good.
